Dr. Richard Olson Named HMC Chief of Staff

Habersham Medical Center announces the election of Dr. Richard Olson as Chief of Staff; succeeding Dr. Joshua Garrett who held the position for the past two-year term.

Dr. Olson has been on the medical staff at Habersham Medical Center since July 2011 and has 28 years of professional experience as a general surgeon.  He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota, and a Medical Doctor degree from the Duke University School of Medicine, Durham, NC.  He completed his Residency in General Surgery at Grady Hospital in Atlanta and completed fellowship training at Duke University and Emory University.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the Georgia Surgical Society.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Dr. Olson and his wife Terri have four children and reside in Gainesville.

Dr. Michael Schulz, Pediatrician, was elected Vice Chief of Staff and Dr. Thomas Hatchett, Doctor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, was elected to the office of Secretary.
