In a called meeting of the Hospital Authority of Habersham County on March 26th, the Authority voted to name Jerry Wise as Interim CEO of Habersham Medical Center effective April 1, 2013.
A Georgia native, Wise was born and raised in Plains, Georgia, and attended Georgia Southwestern University in Americus, Georgia, where he received his undergraduate degree.
For the past fifteen years, he has served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of hospitals within the Ty Cobb Healthcare System where he was instrumental in consolidating two hospitals – Hart County Hospital in Hartwell and Ty Cobb Hospital in Royston - and the construction and start up of the new hospital, Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center, in Lavonia, Georgia, which opened in July 2012.
In making the announcement, Authority Chairman David Kerby stated, “The Authority is impressed with Jerry’s background and experience. He has extensive health care experience working in both long-term care facilities and in hospitals. He has lived in the area for many years and knows community healthcare. Providing quality patient care is his primary focus; while at the same time assuring that the patients, visitors and staff who count on the hospital are treated in a professional, customer-focused manner.”
“Being an active member of the Georgia Hospital Association, Home Town Health, and the American Hospital Association, has provided Wise with valuable insights into health care initiatives and practices throughout the state and nation,” adds Jack Fulbright, Hospital Authority member and current Acting CEO of Habersham Medical Center. “He has also been an active participant in his local community having served in leadership roles in community, church and civic organizations.”
Wise and his wife Carolyn reside in Hartwell. He has two children, two step children and nine grandchildren.
