DEMOREST, Ga. – Habersham Medical Center celebrated the spirit of volunteerism at the annual Love Light Christmas Musical Celebration held December 6th at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville.
During the ceremony, Ann Poston was honored with the annual Jack Courson Volunteer Spirit Award. This award is presented annually by the Habersham Medical Center staff, volunteers and physicians to a volunteer who personifies the volunteer spirit and service above self as exemplified by Jack Courson, a long-time Habersham Medical Center volunteer until his death in 1997.
“Ann is a volunteer at Habersham Home West, Habersham Medical Center’s long-term care and rehab facility and at the hospital’s main entrance information desk,” says April James, director of business development and volunteer services. “Those who nominated her agree that she is a very patient, loving and caring person who is always willing to go the extra mile for the residents and staff.”
“Habersham Medical Center is indebted to its volunteers who give unselfishly of their time and talents for the betterment of others. They are a vital part of our mission to deliver quality, safe and compassionate healthcare to all persons in Habersham and surrounding counties.”
Also, during this year’s Love Light event, an award of appreciation was presented to Bill Loyd for his many years of service on the Love Light committee. “We are very appreciative of Bill’s talents and the many hours of time he volunteered to make the annual Love Light event a success,” adds James. “We presented the first annual Bill Loyd Love Light Award to Bill this year, and look forward to presenting this new award each year at the Love Light Christmas Musical.”
