Mary Lou Martin of Baldwin was named the Habersham Medical Center volunteer of the year during the annual Love Light Christmas Musical, sponsored by Habersham Medical Center and Community Bank and Trust, held on Dec. 7th.

“Martin has made a significant contribution to the volunteer program for many years and always has a warm smile and words of encouragement,” says April Reed, vice president of development and director of volunteer services. “She works in the gift shop and at most of the Auxiliary’s fundraising events and enjoys sharing her talents with others. And, she is always willing to take the time to provide our patients, visitors, physicians and staff with a warm embrace and a kind gesture.”

An active member of Baldwin Baptist Church, Martin has two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The annual volunteer of the award is named the Jack Courson Volunteer Spirit Award in memory of the late Jack Courson, a long-time Habersham Medical Center volunteer who passed away in 1997, and this year the recipient was voted on by members of the Habersham Medical Center Auxiliary.
