Habersham Medical Center announces the addition of William L. McMahon, MD to the Emergency Department staff.

Dr. McMahon, an emergency medicine physician, earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia. He also earned a masters degree in human anatomy and physiology from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and a bachelors degree in biology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

He completed his residency at Louisiana State University (LSU) Medical Center, Charity Hospital, New Orleans. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and a member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, American Academy of Emergency Medicine, Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. McMahon previously served as a paramedic while going through school. He was most recently employed in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Emory University while working at both Johns Creek and Emory Mid-town. His experience includes serving as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Lift Support instructor. He served as medical director of Westwego Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Westwego, Louisiana, assistant medical director for the Delgado Community College EMS program, and also served as an adjunct professor of biology and an adjunct professor of emergency medical services and was co-owner and vice president of Appalachian Backboards and Rescue Equipment.
