Charles L. White, Jr., D.O., a family medicine physician in White County for more than 25 years, has joined Mount Yonah Family Practice in Cleveland.
Dr. White earned a Doctor of Osteopathy degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee, College of Pharmacy, in Memphis, Tennessee. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Mercer University, School of Pharmacy, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Medicine, Dr. White completed his internship and family practice residency at Northlake Regional Hospital, formerly Doctors Hospital, in Tucker, Georgia.
Dr. White served as the medical director of an indigent medical program for the White County Board of Health from 1999-2001; and served as chief pharmacist for Highlands General Hospital in Sebring, Florida, from 1972-1979.
He is a clinical assistant professor at Mercer University School of Medicine and serves as a preceptor for the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Georgia Campus. His professional memberships include the American Osteopathic Medical Association; Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association; the American Academy of Family Medicine; the Georgia Academy of Family Medicine and the National Commission on Correctional Health Care.
Dr. White served as president of the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association; was honored by the Georgia Osteopathic Medical Association as Physician of the Year in 2003; is a Governor-appointed member of the Georgia Composite Medical Board currently serving as Vice-Chairperson; and was the recipient of the 2010 Community Quarterback Award from The Atlanta Falcons Football Club.
His civic and public service includes being a former elected member of the White County Board of Commissioners; former chairman of the White County Board of Health; former chairman of the White County Board of Recreation; alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2008 and board member and medical director of Caring Hands Health Clinic.
Dr. White’s office will move from North Main Street to the Mount Yonah Family Practice office located at 17 White Street in Cleveland near Rite Aid Pharmacy. Owned and operated by Habersham Medical Center, Mount Yonah Family Practice provides primary care for adults and children as well as occupational health services.
