Dr. Ronald MacBeth, Jr. to relocate to Habersham County; His Orthopedic Practice to Open in September 2013
A familiar face is returning to Northeast Georgia. Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Ronald MacBeth, Jr. will begin seeing patients this fall in his new Demorest location.
“We are pleased to announce that Dr. MacBeth is coming back to the area,” says David Kerby, chairman of the Hospital Authority of Habersham County. “Hospital management and the Authority have been searching for an additional orthopedic surgeon since the resignation of Dr. Gary McCarthy in February 2012. We interviewed several candidates and researched different affiliation options praying for the right fit for the community, and it all came together with Dr. MacBeth’s interest in rejoining our medical staff. His contract was finalized this week and now we are preparing for his office to open in early September after his completes his 90-day notice with his current practice in Florida.”
Jerry Wise, interim CEO at Habersham Medical Center, states Dr. MacBeth will be an employee of the medical center and his office will be located in Demorest near the former Sonic Drive-in at the intersection of Highway 441 and Austin Drive. “He will be practicing in Habersham full-time and will be performing all types of orthopedic surgical procedures. Dr. MacBeth specializes in hip and knee surgery including total joint replacements as well as partial knee replacements and also has vast experience in procedures involving feet, ankles, hands, wrists and shoulders,” says Wise. “Dr. MacBeth has more than 25 years of experience, and since he is familiar with the area and the healthcare community, it will not take him long to reestablish relationships and grow his practice.”
Dr. MacBeth practiced in Habersham County for 10 years and closed his former Demorest office and moved to Dublin, Georgia, in August 2010, and most recently, was practicing in Palatka, Florida.
A graduate of Birmingham Southern College in Alabama and the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine, Dr. MacBeth completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Erlinger Medical Center in Chattanooga.
He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Dr. MacBeth and his wife have seven children and are looking forward to reconnecting with friends and patients in Habersham County.
